It is our honor to announce our newest staff addition, Mr. Michael Gittens who will serve as Witherspoon’s new Director of Music!
Michael R. Raymond Gittens
Michael Raymond Gittens is a native of Brooklyn, New York. He studied
organ performance at Oberlin Conservatory of Music in Oberlin, Ohio
and The Juilliard School in New York City. He also studied organ
privately with Solomon Herriott and Marsha Heather Long.
He has performed organ recitals throughout New York City, including
such venues as St. Patrick’s Cathedral, Cathedral of St. John the Divine
and St. George’s Episcopal. In addition, he has done solo organ
performances at Carnegie Hall, Alice Tully Hall and Avery Fisher Hall in
Lincoln Center (NYC).
At Carnegie Hall, he appeared as guest choral conductor in concert
with artists Elton John, Sting, Diana Ross, James Taylor and Don
Henley. He has been an accompanist, arranger and songwriter on
several gospel recordings.
He will serve Witherspoon as Music Director and Organist.
