Stewardship Thanks You!

Members and friends were invited to “Reaffirm Their Commitment to WSPC” as the theme of the 2006 Stewardship Campaign. A graphic design of arms and hands upholding the church (see above) was introduced to create interest and broaden participation in the annual program of giving.

The campaign began with a mailing to members in late September. A series of Moments for Mission presentations by members of the committee and church leaders stressed the progressive development of the church , the various project innovations and the importance of providing advanced commitments for the church budget planning process. Members were urged to complete and submit a commitment card to facilitate this process. Those who submitted a card received an “I’m Committed” label to wear as evidence of their support.

We are pleased to report the overwhelming success of the campaign. On Stewardship Commitment Sunday over 80% of giving units had submitted a commitment card.

The Stewardship Committee is proud of the success of the campaign and even more encouraged by the support of the WSPC membership. The next phase will be to send thank you notes to all participants and follow through with regular communications about all phases of stewardship throughout the church year. Watch the bulletin for details.

Respectfully submitted,
Stewardship Committee.

Men’s Chorus

Be filled with the spirit, Speaking to one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs. (Ephesians 5:18-19) Following a few weeks of vacation from rehearsals, the men returned for weekly meetings on September 14 with vim and vitality to pick up where they left off. They continue to fellowship with each other and worship and praise Christ, our Savior for His grace and mercy. To date, there are twelve active members, including Tony Frazier, our most recent addition.

We offer our heartfelt sympathy to Christo Claassens on the passing of his father.

Choral music was provided for morning worship service on Sunday, October 29.

Accepting an invitation from John Van Sant, former WSPC organist, a “Glorious Gospel” concert was held on November 6 at Grace Epiphany Church, Mt. Airy, Pennsylvania when ten men sang gospel songs to the glory of God. This was an enjoyable experience and included “A Word about WSPC Ministry” by our own Pastor Burrows. A general reception for all in attendance followed the concert and dinner was served for the Men’s Chorus and their guests. Many WSPC members were in attendance.

On Wednesday, November 30, the men again visited the residents to provide choral music at Elm Court in Princeton.

The men have been invited to return for worship with the congregation of the Rossmoor (New Jersey) Community Church. Additional information will be available for a date in the spring of 2006.

The men are grateful for the support of Pastor Burrows and our church family and we are happy in the service of the Lord. Should there be other men who would like to join this group, please attend rehearsals on Wednesday from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. in the Fellowship Hall.

Respectfully submitted,
Lydie T. Dews, Director
