As part of a Presbytery, we pray for the mission of Christ with 44 other churches. Today, we join Larison's Corner, United First of Amwell Presbyterian Church in praying for:
Mission in the United States: Presbytery of Mid-Kentucky. At the Church Gathered at Calvin in Louisville, Kentucky, people really do come from east and west to join together in worship and ministry. Members of three congregations come from Taiwan, Korea and the U.S. Children of these congregations go to Sunday school together and are learning about the cultures and traditions of each country. English speakers are even learning words in Taiwanese and Korean. When we believe in Jesus, we have brothers and sisters in Christ all around the world.
Mission around the World: Sudan. For the first time in 20 years the government of Sudan allowed a church to buy property to build a church building for worship. The Presbytery of Shenango gave money and also sent 13 people to help with construction. As people in the community came out to see what was going on, the group had the opportunity to work and talk with the whole community. Building friendships soon became as important as constructing the building.
(For more details about the missions, see this week in the 2007 Children's Mission Yearbook).
