Presbytery of New Brunswick
The Presbytery of New Brunswick is a local governing body of the Presbyterian
Church(U.S.A.). Its members are ordained Presbyterian ministers
from local churches and institutions, and an equal number of elected lay
(non-clergy) members, known as elders. Together these presbyters work
to support,develop and strengthen the ministry and witness of its 43 member
congregations,and to provide governance strategy as required by the Constitution
of the Presbyterian Church. read

Church Life
Our Mission Statement
The Witherspoon Street Presbyterian Church was founded circa 1840 and has
exercised its
mission in cooperation with the mission goals of the New Brunswick Presbytery,
Synod of the
Northeast and the General Assembly. The mission goals of the congregation are:
- Develop and maintain a family commitment to worship and Christian education.
- Develop ministries to meet the needs of children, youth, young people,
single parents and
the elderly.
- Develop a plan for innovative stewardship of money, talent,
and time with the
congregation.
- Insure the ministry of visitation by Pastor, officers and
members of the congregation.
- Pursue and actively participate in the goals,
objectives and ministry of other churches in the
Princeton community, insofar as they are helpful to the ministry of Witherspoon
Church.
- Pursue and actively participate in the goals, objectives and ministry
of the wider
connectional church: Presbytery, Synod, General Assembly, Black Presbyterians
United,
etc.
- Provide opportunities for creative forms of worship and fellowship
that embrace other
ethnic and cultural members and visitors who worship with us.
- Use resources
within the congregation to cooperate with the community in identifying
community needs, and in developing programs to deal with those needs.
- Review
our physical plant and keep its usage in line with the total ministry of
the
congregation.
- Seek ways to enlarge the ministry of this congregation as
well as the facilities of such a
ministry.
